Stainless Steel Kitchen Sink

Stainless steel is the most popular material for kitchen sinks. While the stainless steel sink will scratch it is easy to clean, looks good, and other kitchen accessories can be bought to match. The thicker versions that are available are also suitably durable for the battering that a kitchen sink typically takes through normal, everyday use.

Dual Sinks

It has become common to have a dual kitchen sink arrangement. This offers a standard sized sink with a smaller draining or rinsing sink next to it. While these have become very common, they don't offer the same size as a single, large sink would in its place. Practically speaking, you should decide whether you require the use of two sinks or whether you would rather have one larger sink with an increased volume.

The Kitchen Tap

No kitchen sink is complete without taps. Again, stainless steel is the more common material to be used but porcelain and brass are becoming more popular. Hot and cold handles and a mixer tap is probably the most common application of the kitchen tap but there is a much greater range of taps available compared to the often limited choice of sinks. Antique porcelain taps look good in many traditional kitchens while a highly shined chrome finish is the perfect accompaniment to a contemporary kitchen design.

Practical Kitchen Design

Some modern kitchen designs include two sinks, but in different locations of the kitchen. With the increased number of dishwashers it might be practical, for example, to place a smaller sink for rinsing items next to the dishwasher area. The kitchen needs to be practical as well as aesthetically appealing so any kitchen design should be based around this fact.
